Peanut Butter Chocolate Granola Bars

These bars are very adaptable. You can substitute some or all of the 2 cereals used with nuts, dried fruits, shredded coconut, and even chocolate chips.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Granola Bars

2 cups rolled oats
1 cup crispy rice cereal (brown rice cereal is ideal but of course rice crispies work!)
1 cup Cheerios
1/4 cup flax-seed meal
1/4 cup cocoa powder
3/4 cup real maple syrup
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup peanut butter

In a large bowl combine oats, cereals (or whatever add-ins you are using), flax and cocoa powder.
In a small sauce pan combine syrup, sugar, coconut oil and peanut butter. heat over medium heat untill melted and combined. Pour into bowl of dry ingredients and mix well.
Spread into a greased 9×13 pan. Press down into pan with wax paper or a pice of plastic wrap sprayed with non-stick spray. really try to compact it down in there as this indicates how well your bars will hold together.

Refrigerate for an hour or until cooled and well set. Cut into bars and wrap individually.
